Conversations shaping the India ahead

Different
worlds.
A shared
tomorrow.

Bringing people from architecture, design, business, policy and society together to ask better questions — and explore what we can do together.

The future takes more
than one perspective.

Each of us sees the world through the work we do. Between & Beyond creates a space to step outside that familiar view, listen to people from other disciplines, and discover the questions we should be asking together.

Architecture is our starting point: the places we build are shaped by culture, technology, capital, policy and the way people live. Bringing these worlds into the same conversation opens up possibilities that no one discipline can see alone.

Better questions.
Deeper understanding.
Possibilities worth pursuing.

Architects & founders of StudioKIA

Between & Beyond was founded by Sabeena and Rajiv Khanna with a belief that the most meaningful possibilities emerge when people look beyond the boundaries of their own disciplines.

Drawing on more than four decades of architectural practice through StudioKIA, they bring a deep interest in the relationship between people, places and the ideas that shape them. Their vision for Between & Beyond is to create an enduring space for thoughtful exchange — where diverse perspectives build lasting relationships and open the way to meaningful action.

A place apart.
A coming together.

Six Senses Fort Barwara, Rajasthan

Our first gathering brought together people from different disciplines for three days of exchange, reflection and human connection.

Through four guiding questions, we looked beyond our own fields to consider the forces shaping the way we live, build, lead and connect. The conversations continued around the table, on walks and in the unhurried moments in between.

Our founding question

“What are we not seeing
from inside our own worlds?”

A wider view begins with a willingness to question our own.

Questions to open
the conversation.

Explore the four starting points.

01What?Look again.

What is changing around us?

Look beyond the familiar signals. What shifts in our cities, communities and everyday lives are easy to miss from where we stand?

02Why?Look underneath.

Why does it matter?

Ask what sits beneath the change. Whose experience are we overlooking, which assumptions need testing, and what is at stake for people and places?

03Why now?Recognise the moment.

What makes this moment different?

Consider the choices that can no longer wait, and the opportunities becoming possible as technology, society and the built environment change together.

04What next?Make one possibility real.

What could we take forward together?

Move from a broad idea to a practical first step. What could we explore, test or demonstrate — and who else needs to be part of it?

A conversation is
only the beginning.

Our ambition is to carry the openness of the gathering into ongoing relationships, shared inquiry and practical collaboration.

I.

Bring different
worlds together.

Create space for people who rarely share a table. Listen with curiosity, and make room for perspectives beyond our own.

II.

Find the questions
we share.

Look for the connections between disciplines. Turn individual concerns into questions that deserve our collective attention.

III.

Take a possibility
forward.

Keep the relationships alive. Find a meaningful next step, bring the right people into it, and learn by working together.

Many perspectives. Shared possibilities.
